It’s not complicated

One day, someone at Verizon decided to revisit the tired telecom trope of coverage maps. I was the lead creative for AT&T and we quickly put the Verizon map spots into testing to see how well they doing with consumers. They bombed. The problem was that the maps were confusing. Turns out that alarmingly few people actually know what the contiguous United States actually look like. And even if they did, coverage is always displayed as a weird spray of color splotches. I was reluctant to get into another map war, so we decided to kept it simple, with a pre-SNL Beck Bennet talking to kids about the difference between slower and faster, and bigger and smaller.
